New play equipment and chairs have been installed and are ready to be enjoyed.
Next steps
Thank you to everyone who completed the survey. The deadline to provide feedback closed on Monday, March 15, 2021.
Twelve responses were received. The majority of suggestions concerning the future of the old play equipment were to continue with play equipment and enhance the seating. Other suggestions included swings, slides and cabanas, squash courts, indoor tennis buildings, seating, exercise equipment, and lighting. Given that the physical space and funding available are fairly limited, staff will proceed to replace both the existing climber with a new climber that will fit into the space constraints of the existing area, and enhance seating opportunities.
There is an approximately 12 week lead time from time of ordering play equipment until it gets delivered to site. As a result, the work in the park will most likely take place towards the end of Summer 2021.
About this project
The playground at Normanby Park has reached its end of serviceable life and is scheduled to be replaced. Before the District replaces the playground, staff want to know if a new replacement playground is really what the community would like to see here, or if there is a desire to see this space converted to another use.
Subject to the approved budget, this space could be:
a social meeting space with seating a recreation use, like a yoga platform,
a small work-out structure, or a Ping-Pong table
a new playground other – something that you would like to use/do in the park
